Photography as Haiku

sentinel_edited.jpg

My photography, much like the poetic form of haiku, aims to capture a moment in time with simplicity and depth, conveying profound meaning through minimalistic means. Just as haiku utilizes a few carefully chosen words to evoke an image or emotion, photography freezes a moment in time, distilling complex emotions into a single frame.

These moments are not always literal. They can be conveyed through composition and aesthetic balance of form, light and texture.

Stripped of the unnecessary, the simplicity of the work invites the viewer to focus deeply on the essence or atmosphere of the moment or subject, allowing viewers to bring their own experiences and perspectives to the image, enriching their experience.

In essence, my goal is to distill experience, both emotional, physical and temporal into its simplest form, inviting contemplation, connection, and appreciation for the beauty of the world around us.
